Don’t you just love a good bargain? I do! Especially when it relates to one of my favorite things… FOOD!
At the moment, I live by my vegetarian cookbooks… my ever-growing collection has been a Godsend while adjusting to being a wife and cooking decent veggie meals on a daily basis. Gone are the days when a batch of oven fries was my single girl’s dinner… now I strive to put yummy, nutritious vegetarian/vegan food on the table for us as many nights out of the week that I can.
I found these two awesome vegetarian cookbooks at my local used book shop this past weekend… and paid only $3.50 total for both books! The store allows people to turn in old books for credit, and the credit can be used for 50 percent of the purchase. So, because I got rid of some books collecting dust on my shelves, I was able to pay just $3.50 instead of $7 for these books. And I’ve still got some credit waiting for me the next time I stop by to visit. I am so excited about these books! Tofu Cookery appears to have some decent recipes that I cannot wait to try. Hubby likes tofu, but I haven’t cooked it much for him yet, so I’m looking forward to trying some of the “new-to-me” ways of cooking it for us. I purchased the TVP book because I haven’t cooked much with TVP yet… thought this book might help with ideas!

It sounds like you got a bargain there! I am still not sure about tofu yet, I will be watching out to see what you do with it
Tofu Cookery is amazing. It was my first vegetarian book gifted to me from Aunt’s collection a number of years ago. My favorites are the stuffed shells, teriyaki tofu, coconut cream pie, Indonesian satay, and eggplant lasagna. The bonus is that many of the flavors are out of sight, but the ingredient list is fairly common in a veggie household. Looking forward to your future posts as you test the book. And PS, I enjoy your blog a great deal… I am a veggie gal with a wonderful omni fiance who recently fell head over heels in love with my homemade seitan.
Autum, thanks so much for your comment and the recipe recommendations! I’ll have to give those a try soon! That’s awesome that your guy loves your seitan! I’ve yet to try cooking homemade seitan, and hubby has never tried it. It’s on my list of things to explore with him.
