I’ve gotten into the habit of pretty much planning out our weekly meals on Saturdays and then getting up early, list and coupons in hand, and shopping Sunday before most people roll out of bed. I hate grocery shopping among crowds… I hate waiting for people to move their cart so I can get to an item I want. I’m a happier person if I can shop in the odd hours and have more space.
I got a little behind on that this weekend. And, hubby failed to mention till this morning that he’d like me to make chili for his lunch again. So, it was off to the stores to fight the crowds on a Sunday afternoon. My frustration was worth it however, because I found a great deal at our local Dollar Tree… $1 Westsoy! Now, these cartons say “drink” but the ingredients still looked OK to me. So, I bought eight cartons… and even if they aren’t as great as the soymilk I usually buy (Whole Foods Brand), they should be good enough for hubby’s cereal each morning. The expiration date isn’t until October, so I hope to make it back there to pick up more cartons! Keep your eyes peeled at your local Dollar Stores if you use lots of soymilk like I do.
This evening, I’ve got a hominy and white bean chili in the crockpot as I type, for hubby’s lunches this week. Tonight for dinner, I’m making the orange pan-glazed tempeh that was posted over at 101 Cookbooks. I looooooove tempeh and haven’t made it very much since moving in with hubby. Will report back on how it turns out! Tonight I’m also prepping tomorrow’s dinner, which is a rice and mushroom casserole in the slow cooker. Later this week, I’ll tackle my first crockpot lasagna!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!

You are so organised! I am just no good at it. I always say, This week I will be organised, but it just doesn’t happen. I never seem to have enough hours in the day, so I often resort to old favourites and just keep in mind ingredients for a recipe I have seen.
I hate grocery shopping when it’s crowded and when it’s not! But if I find a good deal then I love it!
Hy there
soy drink means nothing different than soymilk…
The problem is that you are not allowed in some countries to call non-dairy milks…milks..
If one would sell soy milk in germany he would get punished and had to pay hundred-thousands of dollars.
That happend with mill-milk that had to rename to oatlys and the descpription oat drink
You can not buy soy milk, oat milk..but cocoa butter and peanut butter..and some other stuff that is something with *dairy*
Our gouvernment really thinks people are stupid if they would think that oat milk or soy milk contains animal milk just because it has milk in the name…so cacao butter and peanut butter seems a riddle to me…why was that not changed?
Seriously…
Most vegans in germany think that was all an act to descredit plant based milks because our gouverment pumps much money into the dairy industry.
Also a very, very big sausage producer who has a product called curry king( curry wurst-sausage with ketchup and curry powder in a microwaveable container) got his panties in a knickers because a small tofu manufacturer made the same thing, just vegan with a tofu sausage and called it tofu king.
They dragged the manufacturer befor a court because they feared that this brand of vegan fast food could lure their customers away and confuse the people with curry- and tofu king.
The big brand lost.,.and the small brand is allowed to call his vegan sausage tofu king.
Personally i think this big company is fearing that with tofu king the people will loose the impression of tofu beeing boring and tasteless and switch for different reasons to tofu.
Especially young people
