(Disclosure: I am not being compensated in any way for this review… I bought the product at my local store with my own hard-earned cash and wanted to share my thoughts and opinions on it with my readers!)
I purchased these Cascadian Farm Organic chewy granola bars at my local Meijer store on Feb. 8, 2009. The 6-bar box was marked $4.99 but I used a Cascadian Farm Organic $1 off coupon I had, which put each bar at a cool $0.67 a piece. Even at the full price of $0.83 per bar, it’s still a steal for a snack, considering all the junk food and other granola bars in the vending machines at my work are priced at $1 each.
For less than $1, it’s a snack in which I can actually pronounce the items in the organic ingredients list: tapioca syrup, rolled oats, crisp rice, raisins, naturally milled sugar, brown rice syrup, dried blueberries, sunflower oil, dried cranberries, rice maltodextrin, soy lecithin, sea salt, baking soda, natural flavor and vanilla extract. I love it!
I chose to buy the “Harvest Berry” flavor because at 2 fat grams per 1.2 oz. bar, it had the lowest amount of fat. If you’re not watching your weight, some of the other flavors go as high as 8 grams of fat per bar. Those who like to analyze nutritional information before standing in a crowded store aisle can check out the Cascadian Farm Organic Web site, which includes detailed nutritional information for all its products!
These bars are nice and soft… soft enough that they bend slightly while peeling them away from the wrapper. But the softness I enjoyed the most was from the dried fruit–raisins, blueberries and cranberries. The fruit was tender and yummy, nestled perfectly among the oats.
Quite simply, this is what a chewy granola bar should be! I loved these tasty bars. And though one bar is plenty filling, I found myself fighting the urge to eat more than one in a sitting… they were that yummy!
Has anyone else tried these bars… or the other flavors? What do you think of them?

I have to say this granola bar was quite enjoyable! One of my hang-ups with granola bars is the hardness, this one was quite soft! Bursting with natural flavor I would recommend these to anyone. Was there a chocolate option?
I haven’t had their bars, but their oats and honey granola is one of my faves, so I’m not surprised that these are good!
