3 of my favorite Veg things

VeginOut Smartphone AppThree things I’ve been diggin’ on lately.

  1. The Tofu Xpress.  A tad pricey, but sooooo worth it, imo.  I use it all the time now.  Sure beats using a ton of paper towels!
  2. HappyCow‘s VeginOut Mobile Phone App.  Quite arguably the coolest app on my Droid. It uses GPS to determine my location and then gives veg-friendly restaurants nearby.  Can’t wait to really put it to the test on an upcoming trip.
  3. So Delicious’ Banana Split Mini “ice cream” sandwiches.  These are awesome.  Even hubby is addicted to them.  Feed ‘em to omnivores and they won’t even know it’s animal-free.

What are some of your favorite things?

  1. 1–Tofutti Marry Me Ice Cream Bars
2–George Foreman grill for grilling my tofu instead of frying, and making those neat lil grill marks that make all food taste better.
    3–Cooking blogs

side note…do you use the tofu-xpress for anything other than tofu?

  2. Banana soft serve ice cream. Freeze bananas then blitz in the food processor, the idea has been around for ages and it is so so good.

  3. Alexis – I’ve never noticed the “marry me” bars, will have to look for ‘em next time I shop! And using the Foreman grill for tofu… what a great idea! I’ve never tried that. I, too, could not survive without all the cooking blogs… or all the great cookbooks out there. Nearly everything I make is from one or the other. I’ve heard you can use the press for other things, like getting the water out of frozen spinach, but I haven’t tried it yet. We eat a lot of fresh spinach, so I just haven’t had the opportunity to use it for that purpose.

Helen – You know, I’ve never tried bananas like that! I almost always have bananas in the freezer (I freeze them when they get brown for use in smoothies) so I’ll have to make some banana “ice cream” soon! Thanks for the tip! :)
