*gives a wave from behind her bookshelf as the wood groans under the weight of her cookbook collection*
I have a confession. I have WAY too many cookbooks! I haven’t even bent the cover back on some of them, yet I keep buying more! I fear I’ve become a cookbook addict who buys one for a cheap thrill and lets it waste under a layer of dust. So, it’s time for drastic measures… it’s time to begin using these books to make meals!
Welcome to my completely unoriginal idea of a Cookbook Club! Membership is free… unless of course you put a price on all the time you’ll spend scrambling around your kitchen, or hunched over your computer monitor drooling over posts. ;) Participation is encouraged… there’s gotta be others like me who feel guilty about not utilizing all their awesome cookbooks, right… right? *denies hearing the sound of crickets*
It goes a little something like this
Here are the basics:
- Each month, I’ll choose a book on my shelf to be the cookbook of the month.
- I will aim to cook about four recipes–or one per week–from the book that month.
- My goal is to chose animal-friendly meals that might appeal to a wide dining audience.
- My readers can participate by making or discussing the meals along with me.
- Each month, one lucky reader will receive a free copy of that month’s cookbook!
- Shower, rinse, repeat. Wait, err…
A cookbook lovefest, an orgy of sorts
Please don’t make me do this alone, dear readers. I want YOU to join in the fun, too! There are several ways to participate:
If you already own the chosen book, great!
- Cook along with me so we can compare notes on recipes we liked and didn’t like, or discuss modifications we made for recipes.
- If you blog or have your own website and post your dishes there, please send me the URL so I can do a round-up of everyone’s meals!
If you don’t own the chosen book…
- Follow along without having the book in hand… we can still swap notes about tips and techniques used in our kitchens while preparing recipes! The club will be a great way for observers to get a peek inside each book. And besides, who doesn’t like oogling and commenting on food porn?
- Enter the monthly giveaway to win the book for free!
- Borrow the book from your local library, or from a friend.
- Buy it from your favorite bookstore or from the I Married an Omnivore! Amazon.com affiliate link, which benefits this site via a commission.
Easy peasy, eh? I’m excited about this feature, and hope you’ll find it as fun as I expect it to be!
Tomorrow I’ll announce the first book and details about how you may win it!

Super excited!!! Can’t wait for the cooking to begin.
Hehehe… thanks, Alexis! ;D
