Would you store leftover veg pizza in the same box as a meat-topped pie?

Yay or nay on storing leftover pizza together?

To touch or not to touch… that is the question of the day!

This poll originally was posted on the blog version of this website, but in converting the content here, the poll itself seems to have gotten lost. I can’t even retrieve it from Polldaddy either though, so maybe it expired. :(

The question is an interesting one, so I’d like to post it again to ensure it has a proper home here on this site.

The story goes that hubby and I ordered pizzas while cleaning out my former home in early 2009.  I got the veg and he got the Hawaiian pizza with pepperoni and ham.  When it came time to return to our current home, I couldn’t see holding two half-full pizza boxes on my lap for the ride home… so I combined the pizzas into one box… which means his pizza may have touched mine through all the bumps and turns.  I was totally fine with it… the pizza had cooled to the point where I didn’t feel the meat juices would “contaminate” my pizza, but I’m wondering how everyone else would’ve handled the situation?  Do you keep all veg*n food separate no matter what or would you combine in a situation like this?

For the record, if this occurred at our permanent residence, I would have ditched both boxes in the recycling bin and used foil or baggies to store our leftovers separately.

I’m curious to know what others would do. Please take the poll below and use the comments for additional thoughts. :)

  1. This post is kinda old but….

I really hate it when meat touches my veg food. >_> But I don’t like throwing perfectly good food away. I would have cut off the edges where it was the most likely to touch and called it good. XD

  2. I would not want to risk the meat juices contaminating my pizza, however, it’s much less of a “strict vegetarian” issue and much more of an issue with my digestive system being extremely sensitive to meat after being vegetarian for so long. I used to not make a big deal out of this stuff until I realized how awful a stomach ache I would get after eating food that’s been even a tiny bit contaminated.
